The Chairman, Kevan, 2E0WMG opened the meeting with a welcome to all members present and then gave details of the clubs contribution to National Science and Engineering week.
Our speaker from Andrews TV did not materialise but it is hoped that this talk on the Digital TV switchover can be included in the programme later in the year.
The Chairman then demonstrated some of the club archive material in a slide sequence which has been developed partly for publicity purposes and as a convenient way to present amateur radio at schools and other events.
The pictures had been taken during a range of club activities including Thinking Day On The Air, operating at Cudmore Grove Country Park, Lighthouse weekend with the Harwich Club and JOTA Scout Jamboree at Fordham Heath in October 2007.
It is planned to build up the archives as other activities take place to include a wide range of topics enabling different shows to be screened suitable for primary, junior and secondary school groups as well as for other public demonstrations.
A notebook computer and projector now in common use in schools and other meeting places make a very convenient, mobile and convincing display.
The presentation was appreciated by the members present and acknowledged as a most effective way to record and present material for publicity purposes.
Thanks to Kevan and Jonathan who made it a most interesting evening and to those that contributed material for the archive.
